Check out what people are saying about Shelle Rose Charvet:
"THANK YOU for a wonderful three-day joy ride that you took us through your words, session-by-session, without us noticing the tremendous impact that you kept having at the end of each session.
You have been an Optometrist whose given us a new set of spectacles to wear - when we speak to our spouse or with friends or colleagues, and even when we watch TV! That's quite a lot of day-to-day impact that a person is allowed to have! You have had the impact. Don't you think it's always great to have your cake and eat it too!"
- B N Pramodh, Co-Founder, Business Marketing System, India

Here's what people are saying about Shelle's Books:
The Customer is Bothering Me!
"Having designed and
delivered provincial customer service programs in a previous career life, I was
interested to see how Shelle could take, what I perceive as a subject that’s
been “done to death” and put a new spin on it. And that she did. By layering in
her experience in learning, predicting and influencing behaviours, I definitely
walked away with some new awareness about my own style and it’s applicability in
working with others. Probably one of the biggest “a-ha” moments I had was this:
we could ALL use customer service training. Although a lot of
the examples in the book relate to groups that face external clients, there is
typically a big gap in how we treat internal customers and, in this regard, any
leader could benefit from reading this book and bring the practices into their
teams. Depending on your interest level in the area of NLP, you may find the
front end of the book a little “heavy” as it sets the stage for the later
chapters. However, it did leave me thinking that tooling yourself up in
neuro-linguistic programming isn’t a bad thing in a workplace where the ability
to influence and persuade seem to be the most crucial core competency for any
leader today."
"This is a very remarkable
book!! In my own work I dealt with everything retail except People!
You ,on
the other hand, took on people, you took on the MOST IMPORTANT people in sales,
THE CUSTOMERS!
Shelle, I am
very, very impressed, not only in your applying the LAB Profile to the customer
interchange, but that you have done it so very well.
1. Your
strategies are "right on the money" (literally!)
2. Your teaching examples
are perfect!
3. Your use of a million little anecdotes to set the reader up
for the next steps, in that they are interesting, and will beautifully resonate
with the reader.
The book is
friendly, nicely written, and communicates clearly and easily how to make sales
in a way that both the salesperson and the customer can enjoy it, no matter how
tough/angry or stupid, the customer was when they came in.
A true
breakthrough! Bless you for doing the research and putting your book out there
for every salesperson who is wise enough to not only snap it up, but to put the
ideas to work for themselves and their company.
Congratulations!"
- Bill Huckabee, Market
Researcher, Ohio, USA
"As an expert in the field of public relations, I've helped many
companies improve their public images, But one problem leaders can't afford to
overlook is the images they have with their customers. Shelle's book reveals why
customers get upset and what can be done about it." -Dan Janal, President,
PRLEADS.com
“The difference between a good and a
great business is how you treat your customers. A lot of platitudes are used
when organizations talk about customer service; this book provides a
revolutionary approach and practical structure that will make it
happen.”
-Robbie Steinhouse – CEO of Gray’s Inn
Group
"Your knowledge about customer cues and ability to translate that
for
each audience is absolutely invaluable." -Eleanor Reynolds-Barrett
Director, Client Strategies,

"Shelle, the influencing tools you present, work. You use what
you teach. You demonstrate how to reach rapport with people and give my group
tools that help them deal with difficult people." -Al Gonta, Director,
Woodbridge Foam Corporation, St. Peters, Missouri
"When it comes to customer service it's
easy to find books about the effect. Shelle Rose Charvet's book is about the
cause, the effect and the solution. It's the whole picture and it will make you
an expert." -Nicholas Boothman, author of How to make People Like You in
90 Seconds or Less
“This book tells corporate leaders how
to revamp their customer service philosophies at every operational level. Rose
Charvet first contrasts typical customer philosophies, and how these
philosophies influence the customer experience. With short case studies, sample
dialog, scripts, tables, and templates, Rose Charvet teaches readers exactly how
to respond to customer emotions, stay in rapport with the customer, ask the
right questions, understand customer expectations, clarify what the customer
wants, make amends, and create a positive image in the customer’s mind.
As an author, business consultant,
corporate trainer, and business owner, Shelle Rose Charvet is the consummate
expert on business communication skills. The Customer is Bothering Me is an
indispensible manual for customer service training.” -Dr. Judith E.
Pearson, writer, speaker and solution-oriented coach.
"I knew as soon as I first came across
Shelle's previous book "Words that Change Minds" that the LAB Profile would
change the way I approach communicating with everyone, in both my personal and
business life. Shelle's new book "The Customer is Bothering Me" provides a
welcome shortcut to help with one of the most critical communication challenges
in business; dealing with customers. It's a perfect way to discover just how
useful the LAB Profile is; it captures Shelle's experience and delivers it in a
practical and pragmatic framework that anyone can use." - Martin Hill, VP
Marketing, Lawson Enterprise Software
"The power of this book is that it answers the question “why
don’t they get it?” from the point of view of both customers and service/product
providers. In these times, leaders are struggling for real help. We want more
than simply admiring the problem or some “rah, rah” philosophy. We’re all
looking for something practical that we can apply tomorrow with a difficult
customer. Shelle, you have done just that. This book is usable, applicable and
best of all -- eminently practical. It works in the real world. I know what I’m
giving my staff for Christmas." -Jim Love, FCMC, CEO , Chelsea Consulting
Group
"It’s fascinating how people who deal
with emotional clients on a regular basis appreciate Shelle’s “upset customer
process”. What doesn’t feel intuitive at first, truly is once you understand the
motivations at play and the desired outcomes. It’s win-win for your staff and
your clients."
-Jan MacVinnie, Manager, Cancer
Information Service, Canadian Cancer Society
"Customers, existing or potential,
often cannot articulate what they truly need and want. The Customer is Bothering
Me uncovers the motivation patterns that drive customer behavior. This book is
an excellent resource for anyone who can influence how customers experience your
company and your products."
-Joanna Castellano, consumer Insights and
branding expert, President, Q:Quest Inc.
"Here at Hewlett Packard we talk about the total customer
experience, as we want to delight our customers every day. This book is a
constant reminder of just how poorly customers are being treated today and how
we can obtain a competitive advantage by treating them well. I believe Shelle's
book will help you understand and communicate with your customers in a whole new
way - and be more successful as a result." -Brian Campkin,
Director of
Sales, Hewlett-Packard Canada
"The key thing that "Words that Change
Minds" and now "The Customer is Bothering me" have given me is the ability to
plug in to the unconscious motivators of the client and to motivate them
positively. My client group is not macho business folk - they are parents, most
of whom want to be good parents but some of them have abused or neglected their
children and caused them developmental problems. The inspiration from Shelle's
work has enabled me to make a real positive difference to these children &
their families - something which I am sure Shelle never intended - but which she
is entitled to feel very good about."
-John Turner, UK
Words That Change Minds
"The book is pure genius---but that only reflects the author. I’ll be giving it a third read and will devote a full week’s class time to it." -Richard M. Gray, Ph.D. Assistant Professor, School of Criminal Justice, Fairleigh Dickinson University
"Congratulations on a most brilliant book. I have not read another book with such excellent coverage on meta programs well presented and very easy to understand and use. Thank you for that." - Gavin Ritz,
Human Resources Consultant,
Auckland, New Zealand
"Using the LAB Profile after reading and enjoying your book will enable me to better calibrate to the situation of any team. So I can even better react to the moods and problems of the different teams. The main problem in doing…project work is that most money is wasted by all the personal problems and moods of the people. Imagine, we did recalculation and found out that in one project we had planned to spend about 250.000 DEM. Finally we spent 400.000 DEM and we found out that the same thing could have been realized with 85.000 DEM. We localized the problem in our way of building teams. Rebuilding the team, changing some members to other teams brought us great success. We now have teams consisting of people who discuss and exchange ideas without fighting. So, dear Shelle, let me say Thank You for this book…" - Henning Hirschmann,
Germany
“Excellent book - would recommend this book to anyone wanting to use NLP in the business world. Written in a down-to-earth, extremely readable, interesting style with useful real world examples ... and with a great sense of humor!” - David Kintler,
President, SalesWinners, Inc.,
Coral Springs, Florida
“After reading Shelle’s book, I asked her to train my management, customer service representatives, consultants and sales staff. Not only does it work in achieving bottom line results in business, she also taught my wife and I how to communicate at a new level. Shelle is the master of influential communication. I strongly urge all business leaders to read this book .... it could change your life!” - Richard A. Grehalva,
Vice President, CSC Health Care Systems,
Birmingham, Alabama
“Words That Change Minds is a remarkable book. Shelle illustrates in clear language, those factors that will motivate people. She demonstrates how to communicate, how to sell, how to manage, all the while respecting people at a deep level. Her examples, often highly amusing, will allow you to recognize those around you, AND to know what to do about them.” - Jack Canfield,
Culver City, California
“I strongly recommend this book to anyone who really cares about other people and how they think”. - Peter Kline,
Co-author of Ten Steps to Learning Organization,
South Bend, Indiana
“Not everyone is influenced in the same way. To know the difference is all the difference. If you want to be successful in influence, this is the book. If you want to hit all the pitfalls, don’t read this book”. - Daniel DeBlock,
Columbia, South Carolina
“Using the technology described in this book you will recognize how a person is motivated (or motivates himself), and how a person would like to organize their work. It is clear that once you have that information, it becomes "easy" to organize work in such a way that they get the kind of job that will fit (or in other words: this is how you hire for attitude and manage to retain people!). When I saw the first version of this book in 1995, little did I know that 5 years later 50% of my income would be linked to applying the lessons from this book…This is really powerful stuff that helps companies to get a competitive edge…If you didn't know about it, feel free to consider it one of the best kept secrets!” - Patrick Merleverde,
Author of 7 Steps to Emotional Intelligence,
Lembeke, Belgium
“Shelle presents the LAB Profile (developed by Rodger Bailey) and its applications with a friendly style as she does during her trainings. The importance of the LAB Profile tool is that it is for everybody, it is powerful in order to understand, predict and influence others' behaviour, and it works! I really suggest you not miss this powerful reading. I would have never gone to the LAB trainers' training certification course, [taught by] Shelle, from Italy if it was not worth it!! - Fabrizio Pirovano,
Milan, Italy
“This book presents meta-programs (the content-free filters we use to make up our model of the world) in a simple, understandable and highly readable way. It's based on the Language and Behaviour (LAB) Profile developed by Rodger Bailey - a simplification of the original 60 (!) meta-programs down to 14, along with the questions you can use to elicit them. This is a kind of psychometric test, although as people may have different meta-programs in different contexts, and they may change over time, it's not about pigeonholing people. Shelle also tells you the kind of language to use to reach particular kinds of people - useful in sales, negotiation, motivation and deciding who to hire for a particular job. The book is chatty with a good sense of humour. As an NLP trainer I recommend it! - Andy Smith,
Transformation Training,
London, England, UK

"First of all I thought that Shelle was kidding when she mentioned that I could mix business and pleasure in Tuscany. I thought that I would have pleasure anyway in Italy, and that the last thing I would need was to have a training there..... Lucky I was totally wrong. I had massive pleasure and... the fun still goes on. Somehow I had an important personal break through. All of a sudden I realized what really mattered to me and now back in Amsterdam I transform my business according to new priorities..... Little by little life really starts to be different now..... : )"
- Albert Both Talent coach, Netherlands
"The LAB Profile Certification class was by far the best training experience I have ever had. There were standards to meet and it was hard, making and keeping the certification itself valuable. I met and worked with a diverse international group of people (both staff and students) who just sparkled with light and energy - it was such a privilege to work, study, and play with them, and now to know them as friends and contacts throughout the world is invaluable. (Hey, if I want to see the world, I have a place to stay now in Austria, Ireland, France, South Africa, Australia...the list goes on!) Oh, and my emerging business now has a much clearer and cleaner focus. I left feeling prepared to move forward with more confidence than ever before."
-Mia Corinha, Massachusetts
"Language is the powerful tool of influence in communication, and when it is used with integrity it is irresistible. I went on the LAB Profile course in 2007 to learn new things about how people communicate. I am a lawyer practicing law in Ireland. Lawyers are great communicators in court, in meetings and so forth, but we are not good communicators when it comes to communicating with our clients. I wanted to understand, why we are such poor communicators with our clients, in the hope that I could pass my knowledge onto other lawyers. The Lab Profile course taught me everything I wanted to know and more. I strongly recommend the course to anybody who wants to be an irresistible communicator."
-Johnny Bourke, Dublin Ireland

LAB Consultant Trainer Coaches' Comments
"Coaching during the LAB Profile course was definitely the best thing I have done this year. It allowed me to experience the whole course again, but then from a totally different perspective. I also liked the fact that I could coach in German now. It has taken everything that I already knew to much higher and deeper levels!"
-Albert Both, Amsterdam
"It was my great pleasure to participate as a coach in this exciting seminar - first of all because of the fantastic team you had chosen to work with. I also really liked the way the programme stretched every of us - the participants, the coaches and - maybe the presenter.
Being part of this great team gave me much deeper insight for my own seminars of the LAB Profile.
A great experience - thanks a million." -Klaus Voss, Germany
"If you want to become the queen of the sound bite, hang out with Shelle. Over the 10 day period, you'll watch yourself convey accurate, meaningful messages - inside two sentences. Don't know about your world but in mine, that's a cool achievement. I'm still practising of course!" -Toy Odiakosa, UK
"Shelle, working with you, the other coaches and the whole team of participants during the LAB Profile Certification Program has been an incredible experience for me-- all three times! When you add all of this “people” stuff to a process and methodology that works, the end result has been a change in the way I conduct my business which has yielded excellent personal and professional results. And . . . . there is still a great deal of untapped potential to be explored. Yippeee!
Coaching my two integration teams and hearing the course content again gave me the opportunity to check my own skill level, which allowed me to pat myself on the back in some areas and pay greater attention to others. I had an opportunity to watch each participant’s skills grow regarding their LAB Profile knowledge and expertise, and at the same time, an amazing story unfolded during the two weeks we were together. I watched people from around the world figure out how to make their cultural, gender, age, etc. differences work for them and their team. Both times my collection of five individuals transitioned into supportive work teams, and they developed a great fondness for each other that I think will continue long after everyone has gone back home.
I have attended many, many training programs, but none of them have had an impact on the participants like this one. Congratulations and please keep this going for a long time to come."
-Nancy Klepper, New Jersey, USA
"Coaching on the LAB Profile Trainer & Consultant program was stimulating, challenging – in a good way – and for me, embedded the learning at a deeper level. It was fascinating to see the training from another perspective, like the ostrich taking his head up and looking all around and noticing how much was happening, which as a participant I was not aware of at all.
Working with the culturally diverse participants and listening in to ‘catch them getting it’ really honed my skills and I felt much more in charge of all the patterns at the end, even the ones I did not know I was not clear on to begin with.
It was also a great opportunity to model Shelle and tap into her boundless knowledge, energy & enthusiasm. Her use of metaphor. Her observation skills. Her group facilitation and mastery of the material.
Finally working closely with a group of coaches who shared all their knowledge generously and were lots of fun was terrific. Don’t think about it, just do it, you’ll be glad you did. The choice is up to you…."
-Julie Silfverberg, Cork, Ireland
"I'd like to explicitly say "thanks you so much" for having given me the opportunity to participate as a coach in your program. You told us not everything needed to be perfect, but I think you do everything to run the program at the highest possible standard.
It was challenging but I always felt safe and was certain the network of trainers and other coaches would be there to carry things forward (which is totally different from failing with something and getting things corrected retroactively). I benefit quite much from actually doing things so this experience has a huge value for me." -Andreas Trilling, Dortmund, Germany
"... it was a very special two weeks, a fantastic group of coaches and participants and of course you were wonderful! I learnt a huge amount, much of which just appears from time to time! Your energy and enthusiasm was infectious and whenever I think about that time I get big smile on my face. I honestly wonder what it is that you do that has enabled me and I know others to have such unique experiences. I shall miss not seeing you next week."

People who liked "How to Increase Sales in Tough Times"
"Thank you for this program. It was very useful and it’s amazing how I continue to learn more and more about the LAB profile and its uses.
I really liked how to “Create a frame for the value of what you offer” You gave us great three questions to consider from the customer’s point of view. Our company's value offering to clients has changed now during this “crisis” and we need to re-think our positioning. I will be doing this exercise with my business partner tomorrow.
It was a real A-ha! moment when you showed us how to “Get attention!” I realize that we have been using language where we build on the process they have been doing. In this current climate we need to change this dramatically.
And I really appreciated how to use visual metaphors to communicate what we do." -Kamaljeet Pentreath,
Managing Director, Krumbs A-ha!, UK
"I am incredibly happy that I took the chance to attend this program. It was great to hear your tips and advice." -Andreas Dorn,
Asia Mind Dynamics, Malaysia
"It helped me the most by reintroducing concepts, from NLP and your book, that I've learned and have not thoroughly put into my vocabulary. This was a postive reminder of subtle ways to distinguish my self. The visual metaphors, The way to match match match and lead. I liked the focus on the behavior of the other, and the cues to look and listen for.
Your story about purchasing a car was a prime example (or not) of sales differentiation, that I want to bring to my clients.
" -David Tolkin CFP,
Forest Hills Financial Group,
Bohemia, N.Y.
"I found the whole program very useful and in particular the part about how to meet people at their bus stop, and I also liked the idea of creating a visual metaphor for what I do. The tip about what I call my business is also helpful as are what people's attitudes are likely to be in a crisis.”

Solving Communication Problems
“I was driving to work and trying to prepare myself for what I knew was going to be a very difficult interview with a member of my staff whose behaviour towards another colleague was giving me great concern. This person was beginning to interfere in another person’s workload to an unacceptable point. Furthermore I had always had a problem ‘getting through’ to this member of staff and was struggling to think how I would be able to achieve this.
Listening to the Solving Communication Problems with the LAB Profile, I realised that the person in a case study on the CD demonstrated very similar personality traits to the person I was going to have to interview. I became more and more interested in what was being said and pulled over so that I could listen to the discussion with even greater concentration. One phrase that was suggested was a ‘Double Away From’ statement.
I scribbled it down and had it in front of me when I got to the interview – and used it. It provided the breakthrough that I had been looking for and gave me the entrance point to be able to explain to them that although I understood where they were coming from, their behaviour could be interpreted as being frightening and intimidating – something they were completely unaware of.
Thanks, Shelle – LAB Profile definitely works!!”

Irresistible Presentations Testimonials
“I got a lot out of the course, and felt it was packed full of new ideas and strategies for me. I will certainly apply them a bit at a time to integrate the ideas in the muscle. You've created a very supportive and warm environment for the attendees which helps a lot when many people are coming with high levels of anxiety. I would very much recommend this course.” -Jenny Nabben, Head of Change Management

Now, I not only have a number of POWER tools in my tool kit, but I know how to bring them together to create the finished product: a presentation with impact! Whether the context is meetings, one-on-one discussions, the boardroom, I now have an elegant set of tools available to me.” -Sam Maroli, Managing Director, Interservefm Ltd

“Wonderful to have the insight into The System plus structure and skills rather than presentation ‘context’! To have made so much progress in three days is really something and will give me a lifetime to practice! Also feel I made progress in the ‘human’ areas of presenting which I really needed to make a ‘big jump’ in my effectiveness, credibility and impact. Thanks for a wonderful and supportive course!
And I suspect that this is the first course I’ve been on where people won’t spot that I’ve been on a course!” -Cassandra Brown, Managing Director, MED-EL UK Ltd
“Shelle truly lived up to all expectations and was IRRESISTIBLE as a trainer. Many thanks. I feel I’ve learnt tons! Managed to get out of my comfort zone frequently and ‘Just do it’. I’ve become more confident and learnt to trust that it’s all a big learning curve and can’t be perfected overnight. A very safe environment in which to make mistakes – learn from them. Would highly recommend others and my comment would be ‘Just go for it’ – it’s an opportunity you can’t afford to miss. Shelle truly is irresistible – you’ll have such fun as you learn. Many grateful thanks.” -Liz Philpott, Reflexologist and Health Creation Mentor
“I think the three day course is excellent value for money as it cover all the key areas that help to build the tools, skills and experience needed that can be taken away to develop and practise.” -Glenda Yearwood, Study Support Co-ordinator, Outreach School Of Learning
“It’s an immensely useful three days – lots of tips and practical applications. Definitely come along and decide for yourself.” -Kate Atkin, Freelance Trainer, Aspire 2
“I came to build on very basic presentation skills. I wanted to learn from an expert rather than trial and error. I now have some techniques, ideas, and formulae that I can adapt for different circumstances. I enjoyed the three days but felt a little disadvantaged by ignorance of ‘lab’ profiling. The practise sessions were invaluable and the other course members friendly and supportive. I feel more confident as a consequence of coming on the course and motivated to continue to build skills!! Thank you.” -Caroline Clark, Freelance Presenter in Schools
“Tell Others. Understand NLP Basics/LAB Profile first. As often as referred to.” Nicola Hill, Cardiac Physiologist
“This course really changed the way I view presentation from focussing on content to concentration on the audience. The ‘oh yeah’ moment for me was to do with confidence levels and the idea that nerves come when I am not focussing enough on the audience and too much on myself. Perhaps this morning discussion should be a formal part of the training.” -Karl Firth, Sales Manager, St Jude Medical
"I had a group yesterday and it had two pressed souls and one who was very nervous.
I tried out the opening script for Presenting Ideas to Skeptical People. It worked! The two compulsory attendees listened all day (and took part in the exercises). The nervous one .... I saw her visibly relax half way through the intro.'" -David Forster,
Senior Staff Development Trainer, UK
"I was struggling on how to present information to a group of 75 people who were in a treatment center for substance abusers . In listening to your tape about how to motivate skeptical people, I realized I was planning on using TOWARDS motivational language; when they really are motivated by AWAY FROM language. I switched my language and held their attention through out my presentation." -
